iPad App Reviews: Popular Mechanics Interactive Edition is the BEST

20100709 mechanics02 iPad App Reviews: Popular Mechanics Interactive Edition is the BEST

This app was released in iTunes 2 days ago and it has already rocketed to the number 7 slot of all paid apps. That’s an incredible achievement for just a 2 day’s availability. Popular Mechanics Interactive Edition falls nicely into the category of magazine apps. As far as I’m concerned, this magazine app by Hearst Communications Inc is the best I’ve seen on the market so far. It is brilliant, so it is no surprise at its phenomenal early success.

As a follow-on from yesterday’s app review Movies Now HD, here is another selection of wallpapers from some of the greatest movies from the past decade. From Buzz and Woody from Toy Story to Yoda from Star Wars, there’s something for all taste. Well, maybe not for lovers of comedy as I don’t do comedy films, so bad luck! Seriously, I hope you like these.

iPad App Reviews: Beautiful Tarot HD for iPad is Arcane Elegance

20100708 tarot01 iPad App Reviews: Beautiful Tarot HD for iPad is Arcane Elegance

This is the iPad release of the previous Beautiful Tarot app for iPhone. It has been hailed with rapturous applause by the new age tarot reading communities, and it’s not difficult to see why. This is a great way to undertake various types of readings with a range of lovely tarot packs. There are reading interpretations if you need them that are really useful if you are a beginner at card reading. However, if you’re an experienced reader you can still make use of this great app whilst making your own interpretation of the outcome.

Have a scroll down and see if there’s something you don’t already know about your magical tablet.

iPad Wallpapers: Some More Sky Scenes To Get Lost In

We already showed you some images of sky scenes that really showcased the glory of Mother Nature. Here are some more for you to take a look at. Some lightning shots are included that are pretty amazing. Despite how scary lightning can appear, especially in person, it has a definite artistic appeal to it at the same time. Hopefully you will enjoy these following scenes and will add some to your iPad’s wallpaper rotation.

iPad Games: Starpagga Pushes iPad to the Limit

20100708 starpagga01 iPad Games: Starpagga Pushes iPad to the Limit

The ancient Greeks had a brilliant word: ‘hubris’. Hubris was what happened when someone got too full of themselves, got a bit too boastful, started acting as if they couldn’t fail… then SLAM! They’d fall right down into the dirt. Hubris is great, especially where advertisers and game developers are concerned. Funsuma Games, the developers of Starpagga, seem to be suffering from a bit of hubris. When you make the claim, “StarPagga is arguably the best multiplayer 3D space-shooter on the App Store” you’d better be sure of yourself. Otherwise someone is going to prove you wrong and you’re going to land squarely with your face in the mud.

iPad Wallpapers: More Anime and Manga Classics

20100707 anime01 500x500 iPad Wallpapers: More Anime and Manga Classics

Another journey into the hyperreality of anime and manga today with superb wallpapers based on the latest graphic novels. These striking pictures look great on your home screen and they are also great as a scrolling picture display. I love the darker use of color and imagery associated with manga and anime illustrations, especially those frames that are certainly ‘not for children’. All the images chosen here are not nearly as blood-gushing as they could be… maybe I’ll do a late night edition with an R rating.

iPad Accessories: Handmade Pink and White Sleeve is Fun and Feminine

20100707 pink01 iPad Accessories: Handmade Pink and White Sleeve is Fun and Feminine

This beautifully vibrant fabric sleeve is unashamedly girly. Hand-stitched by belvidesigns, this is a delicious blend of hot-styled feminine design with practical durability. As these fabric sleeves are hand-stitched, each one is slightly different with its own unique quirk or character. There’s a pretty good chance that you’ll be the only one sporting one of these delightful sleeves. I guess this is the same as dressing for a party: according to my girlfriend it’s really annoying to turn up at a party to find another girl wearing the same dress…

iPad App Reviews: Movies Now HD for iPad

20100707 movies01 iPad App Reviews: Movies Now HD for iPad

I am a real movie fan. Going to the cinema with friends, with my girlfriend or with the boys as a family are all part of my regular leisure time treats. I have been looking forward to a decent dedicated movie app for the iPad, but have I found it in Movies Now HD for iPad? This new app released last week by Kodu Ltd has some impressive functionality and is well positioned to be the iPad’s major movies hub. In spite of that, there are some annoying limitations, plus one omission that is simply inexplicable…

You won’t find a plethora of complaints from most people when it comes to the iPad. The iPad is not perfect, though, and surely you will always have naysayers that will find something negative to say. In reality, one valid complaint concerning the device is its lack of an integrated camera. iPad News: April Fools becomes July Prototype

20100707 arcade01 500x425 iPad News: April Fools becomes July Prototype

Back in early spring, www.thinkgeek.com published a fantastic April Fool’s item that had loads of people hoping it was actually real. They called it the iCade iPad Arcade Cabinet. Designed to satiate the thirst for all things retro in iPad gaming, this cabinet would allow users to slot their iPads neatly into the cabinet then use the old style joy stick and buttons to play their favorite old fashioned games such as Pac Man and Donkey Kong. This was all an April Fool. However, it seems that some intrepid entrepreneur has seen a market for such a device and is already working on a prototype.
