Apple doesn’t seem to be fazed by the number of new tablets coming to encroach on iPad territory. On the contrary, the company is ramping up production on the original iPad in anticipation of the holiday season.
After introducing iOS 4.2 at Wednesday’s press event, Apple increased production on the iPad from 2 million per month to 3 million, getting ready for Christmas gift-giving. Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty reported: “Apple recently indicated to its suppliers a desire to move to 3 million per month in C4Q10. This implies a run rate of 36 million in CY11, close to the current 40 million supply chain forecast.” It doesn’t sound like the guys at Apple are too worried about competitors cutting into their market share.
