iPad Games: Aliens have Landed in Space Invaders HD

There are not many things that I love more then classic arcade games.  When I was younger I spent almost ALL of my free time in the arcade at the mall.  I can’t begin to tell you how many quarters I spent playing these games with my friends, but I’m sure it was enough to purchase something useful.  Yes, I said quarters.  Do you remember when a game was just a quarter?  We  would play until we were either out of money or they kicked us out because the mall was closing.  Now thanks to the original creator Taito, anyone who owns an iPad can relive those memories of  playing Space Invaders with their firends..

Many games claim to be remakes of “retro” or “classic” games.  Then you decide to check it out for yourself and you don’t get the original graphics.  Instead you get some updated version of something that resembles the game you loved.  That’s not the case with Space Invaders HD.  The iPad version  blasts you right back to the arcade of your childhood with the original graphics.   One very cool feature of the iPad version is the two player table-top mode which is exactly like the old table-top version you would find back when you were a kid.  Essentially instead of having to hand the iPad back and forth between two players you can sit across from each other and the screen will flip when it’s your opponent’s turn.  Of course you do have the option not to use the table-top mode and just hand your iPad over when it’s not your turn.

Another little bonus that was thrown in with the iPad version are the original designs from the 1978 release.  Pretty cool if you are into nostalgia.  If you are a fan of arcade games and want to take a trip back to your younger days Space Invaders HD is a no brainer.
