The guys who wrote this app are clearly divers, and they are very responsive to the global diving community.  Developers Adaptive Solutions Group Pty. Ltd. only released this app on August 27th and already they’ve responded to customers’ comments by providing a useful update. There are other diving apps available for the iPad, but Dive Buddy Pro gives you the complete package. It provides a complete log of your dives on a worldwide scale. No matter where you dive, whether you’re a beginner or one of the seasoned elite, Dive Buddy Pro is exhaustive in its functionality and ease of use.

For all those planning a late summer expedition into the backwoods this app is an essential. As you know from some of my previous apps, I like to take my boys camping (we went at the weekend for an over-nighter as it happens) and one of the things they enjoy is building bivouacs. Knot Guide HD came in very useful for this in helping us find useful knots, and we also used it as entertainment to try out new ones. If you’re involved with scouting, cadets or junior rangers this app is a brilliant find. It may also come in useful for recreational sailors or climbers. Developer Winkpass Creations also have a Climbing Knots Guide app that I’ll review tomorrow.

It’s a fully interactive companion to your company’s desktop FileMaker databases and forms an essential tool for team members who are not office-bound. This app is amazing.

Double Dog Studios bring you yet another fantastic iPad version of a US Military handbook, this time covering the elite fighting units that are the US Rangers. Most famous for its 75th Regiment, the US Rangers are the Special Operations wing of the US Army and have been used in covert and extreme theaters of war since their inception in the 17th century. These are the boys that take no prisoners (as it were) and Army Ranger Handbook gives you an intriguing insight into the activities and training of one of the best military units in the world.

The Atlantic Magazine was founded in 1857, but you’ve never seen it like this! The famous title just launched its own app for iPad.
